Please contact us if you would like more information.

What makes See Spot Behave different from other dog trainers?

We go beyond basic obedience. Our training is based on scientific research, positive reinforcement, and a deep understanding of canine behavior. We specialize in helping dogs with fear, reactivity, aggression, and anxiety while making training simple and practical for real-life situations.

What are your credentials and experience?

We have years of professional experience working with dogs of all temperaments, from puppies to serious behavior cases. Our expertise includes:

  • Certified dog training and behavior consulting experience (CCBC-KA, CPDT-KA, FFCP).
  • A Masters in curriculum design for effective learning.
  • A Masters in communication.
  • Ongoing education in behavior science, affective neuroscience, and polyvagal theory.
  • Hands-on experience with complex cases, including fear-based behaviors, reactivity, and aggression.

We don’t just train dogs—we educate, support, and empower owners with science-backed methods that are humane, effective, and practical.

Do you use force-free training methods?

Yes! We are 100% force-free, fear-free, and evidence-based. We never use shock collars, prong collars, intimidation, or outdated dominance-based methods. Instead, we rely on modern behavioral science, positive reinforcement, and consent-based techniques to build confidence and trust.

Do you work with reactive or aggressive dogs?

Yes! We specialize in working with reactive, fearful, and aggressive dogs. Our humane methods focus on addressing the root cause of the behavior rather than just suppressing symptoms. If you’re struggling with leash reactivity, barking, lunging, or fear-based behaviors, we can help.

How is your training customized to each dog?

Every dog is different, and so is every family. We assess your dog’s unique needs and create a training plan that fits your lifestyle. Whether you need help with confidence-building, socialization, or household manners, we tailor each session to your goals.

How does your training fit into everyday life?

We focus on practical, real-world skills—not just tricks. Our training helps dogs succeed in everyday situations, like:

  • Gaining confidence in new places
  • Calmly greeting visitors
  • Walking politely on a leash
  • Handling stress without reacting
  • Getting along with dog or kitty roommates
  • and more!

Do virtual sessions really work for serious behavior problems?

Yes! Virtual coaching is highly effective for reactivity, fear, and aggression. It allows us to:

  • Coach you in real-time from the comfort of your home (and you don't have to tidy up!).
  • Avoid unnecessary stress from a stranger in your dog’s space.
  • Teach you lifelong skills so you don’t have to rely on a trainer forever.

Will I be able to train my dog on my own?

Absolutely! Our goal is to empower you to be successful long after training ends. We break things down into easy-to-follow steps and give you the tools to confidently continue training on your own.

What if I feel overwhelmed by my dog’s behavior?

We know how challenging it can be to live with a fearful, reactive, or anxious dog. That’s why we support you every step of the way—without judgment, pressure, or unrealistic expectations. We celebrate progress, no matter how small!

How do I get started?

We’re ready when you are! Book a consultation today and take the first step toward a calmer, happier, and more connected relationship with your dog.

Our group classes are outside at various parks and other venues in the area - we are nomads. We strive to choose central locations so that students from all over can join us. If you have a request for a particular loaction, we're open to it.

Our group classes are held mostly on weekend mornings to help us beat the heat.

How long are the sessions?

Sixty minutes is a long time and your dog may get tired, or stop responding to the training. Because we want them to have. a positive association with training, we will not force your dog to continue - they set the pace and the duration. If your dog has a tough time with long sessions, we will schedule 30 minutes sessions with you instead.

Can my family members or roommates attend private training sessions?

Yes! All family members and roommates are welcome to attend private training sessions. Consistency is key to success, so we encourage everyone involved in your dog’s daily life to participate.

Can children attend group classes?

For safety reasons, children under 15 cannot attend our reactivity group classes. This ensures a controlled environment where all dogs and handlers can focus without additional stressors. However, children may be involved in training at home with guidance.

Do you charge extra for multiple dogs in a household?

No! We do not charge per dog—our pricing is based on the session, not the number of dogs in your home. However, we do tailor sessions to ensure all dogs are set up for success, which may mean working with them one at a time before practicing together.

What should I wear and bring for training sessions?

We recommend wearing:

  • Comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather
  • Shoes with good grip (avoid sandals, flip-flops, or heels)
  • A treat pouch or bag to easily access rewards
  • LOADS of a variety of treats - more than you think you'll need
  • A hungry dog - not starving, of course - but don't feed them right before a session.
  • A harness or collar and a 6-foot leash.

Training is an active process, and the equipment helps set you up for success!

  • Group classes
  • Any session where we bring a dog with us to your home

This is for the health and safety of all dogs involved. If your dog has a medical exemption, please discuss it with us in advance.

Yes, all clients must sign a liability waiver before training begins. This protects both you and See Spot Behave, acknowledging that while we use force-free, humane training, working with dogs carries some level of inherent risk.

Do you offer guarantees?

No, we do not offer guarantees. Behavior is not a product—it is influenced by genetics, environment, past experiences, and ongoing interactions. Because of this, no ethical trainer can promise specific results. However, we do guarantee our commitment to using the most effective, humane, and science-based methods to help you and your dog succeed.
